Luxury
crewed French barge cruises in Burgundy
(Bourgogne) France
Dining in Detail...
Breakfast:
A
fresh continental breakfast buffet is served every morning including
croissants, breads, cereals, meat cold cuts, etc., with fresh ground
coffee and a selection of teas and fruit juices.
Lunch:
Lunch
is served on board. France’s world class delicatessens offer a
fantastic selection of cuisines which perfectly compliment the warmer
summer climate. Their fare is fresh and, most importantly to us,
seasonal and authentic. Savoir Vivre's salon converts into a fully
functioning dining room in moments.
Should you wish to have
lunch ashore, there are several local restaurants a short drive away
which we can arrange a table at for you; this will be at your expense.
At least a day’s notice will be needed and no guarantee can be given
should the restaurants be fully booked. From lunch we will be able to
continue directly onto the afternoon’s activity.
Dinner:
This
will be at your expense and you will be required to settle the payment
of the bill each night directly with the restaurant.
The
selection of restaurants is fixed. They have been carefully chosen to
be both authentic (not overpriced tourist traps!) and representative of
the cuisine and culture of the region. They're basically exactly what
you should hope for when visiting Burgundy! If you wish to visit a
specific restaurant then this is possible but subject to availability
and a €100 charge if it is more than 25km from the ship. This must be
arranged at the time of booking.
Open Refrigerator and
Bar:
Savoir
Vivre has a complimentary ‘open refrigerator’ for guests use 24 hours a
day and includes soft drinks, wine, beer, spirits and snacks.
Sample Dinner Menu...
Here is a sample menu to give you an idea of
the type of dining experiences you will enjoy...
We
had a lot of fun selecting the restaurants for your cruise! The aim is
to provide you with authentic locations which offer typical French
cuisine and relaxed environments. Tourist traps and stuffy over-priced
establishments are off the menu. Authentic, charismatic locations were
our target and, if we might say so ourselves, we're proud of our
selection. Better still, we have been welcomed by the local community
for supporting these local independent establishments which are part of
the fabric of rural French culture.
It's important to be clear
that we receive no commission or 'kick backs' from our restaurants, we
simply share a common goal with them to provide you with excellent and
fun dining experiences. If this means the odd language barrier or
gamble on a new dish, then go for it! It's all part of the fun.
