ITINERARY: AIGUES MORTES TO BEZIERS

Pick up Montpellier

SATURDAY - DAY 1
5:00 p.m:  You will join Emma moored in the port of Aigues Mortes and enjoy champagne cocktails whilst getting to settle in and meet the rest of the crew. Your first gourmet dinner awaits you under the setting sun of the Camargue.

SUNDAY - DAY 2
Morning: This morning you will be able to explore the medieval walled city, the starting point of the Crusades. You can have a walk along the ramparts, visit the Tour of Constance, the old prison for wayward women, or delight in the little shops filled with fabrics, pottery, and local produce, before returning aboard for lunch.
Afternoon: We cruise through the Camargue this afternoon with its black bulls, white horses and pink flamingos, you are in the heart of ¨Provence. Our mooring for the night is at Villeneuve Les Maguelones with its beautiful cathedral among the vineyards on the beach. 

MONDAY - DAY 3
Morning: A visit to Montpellier this morning will be an opportunity for those wishing to shop. The historic centre of this university city which is also the oldest medical centre in France, is very interesting to wander around. The Place de la Comedie just beside the theatre is wonderful just to sit and have a coffee or a glass of wine and watch the world go by.
Afternoon: Our cruise today takes us through the little town of Frontignan, home of the sweet Muscat wine. The canal runs parallel with the Mediterranean Sea so any time you fancy a swim!!!! The flamingos are abundant in the little étangs on either side of the canal.

TUESDAY - DAY 4
Morning:  You will be taken off to visit Sète this morning. Home of Captain René, it is a busy,bustling town criss-crossed with canals from where it gets its name as the “Little Venice of the Midi”. You will be taken up to the Mont Saint Clair with its spectacular views of the Pryennees to the south and the Massif Central to the north and with a charming little chapel decorated by beautiful murals.
Afternoon: Our cruise this afternoon takes us across the inland salt water lake of the Etang de Thau to Marseillan. We shall cruise past the famous oyster beds of Bouzigues which we serve with the delicious white wine from the vineyards of Pinet. The Noilly Prat winery is an interesting visit ,or for art lovers a private viewing with one of our best known local artists.

WEDNESDAY - DAY 5
Morning: Today we join the Canal du Midi, leaving the salt water behind us and crossing the nature reserve of Bagnas where we meet our first lock. We shall take a lazy cruise up the river Herault and find a nice spot for lunch.
Afternoon: After lunch we will visit the ancient Greek town of Agde built on the river Hérault out of volcanic stone. You can visit the old historic centre of Agde with its myriad boutiques or, the Cap d’Agde with its ports and Le Grau d’Agde with its beautiful sandy beaches.

THURSDAY - DAY 6
Morning: Our visit is to Pezenas, adopted home of Molière. A paradise for those interested in architecture, quaint boutiques, arts and crafts and antiques. This is bourgeois France at its best.
Afternoon: We go through one of only 2 round locks in Europe on leaving Agde. We shall cruise through beautiful countryside full of vineyards, going through another 4 locks and a unique engineering feat of “The Doors of the Libron “ to bring us to the Port of Beziers the birth place of Paul Riquet, the man behind the existence of the canal

FRIDAY - DAY 7
Morning: Sadly your week with us is over and after breakfast your guide will be taking you on to your departure point to continue your onward journey.
